The question began to be asked, “What about the girls? What is being done to help the girls in this same age group?” So, in 2002 the West Louisville Girls Choir (WLGC) began.
Since its beginning the WLGC has been a performing Choir. They made their debut in November 2002 at the Choir’s Hope Awards Christmas Dinner Concert.
They have performed for local city events such as Fund for the Arts Kick-Off, Mayoral Breakfasts, Light Up Louisville, toured Los Angeles and Las Vegas and are presently preparing for a performance at the state capitol in Frankfort, Kentucky for our state’s senators, congressmen, and special guests.
The Girls Choir has number of special events each year. Some of them are, in-house Vocal Clinics, fashion shows, and mentorship programs where every girl performs– solos, duets, etc. The purpose of this program is to develop poise and musical enrichment and career development.
A vocal clinician is also invited to give them vocal tips on their voices. The second event is a Fashion Show Luncheon. The girls perform and model fashions from Regiss Bridal & Prom. Friends and family are invited, and a good time is held by all. Another event is called “SISTER 2
SISTER”; where female leaders from Louisville’s business community talk about their jobs, have a Q & A session and afterwards fellowship. Refreshments are served. In 2018, the Girls Choir will enter a Kentucky Pageant sponsored by a member of the Regiss staff.
